Today Love Mission Photography spent some time with some of the people of down town St. Pete who happen to be currently homeless for a variety of reasons. It is so easy to turn your head and ignore this major problem in society. No, it’s not my fault or your fault that there is a homelessness problem and not necessarily my or your responsibility to fix it either, but it’s not about blaming the problem on someone or something. Today, homelessness was just about being in the moment, having a few conversations, and passing on some love. Simple.

“What’s so difficult about your situation right now?” I asked Steven, who I met in a local park (featured here).

He didn’t respond with what he told me earlier in our conversation, about only eating every other day, harp on getting laid off, figuring out how to get his laundry clean, or even complain about his situation. As he thought for a moment he finally said, “the heat, it gets humid out here sometimes”. He also talked about how all the people who are currently homeless take care of and help each other when they can and commented that he is lucky to live in an area where people come by and feed them. His cheerful spirit inspired me today.

What inspired you to be grateful today?

As always, thanks for visiting, and remember, what inspires the love in us, inspires the love in others.
Xoxo,
Rachel

“Dear children, let us stop just saying we love people; let us really love them, and show it by our actions.”

You are a light in a dark place, Rachel, shining bright and beautiful! Great work, God must be smiling ear to ear!

Awesome message! You know how I feel about the homelessness and our lack of care for our fellow human beings. Keep at it!
